Parametric analysis, response surface, sensitivity analysis, and optimization of a novel spiral-double ground heat exchanger

This paper proposes a novel spiral-double ground heat exchanger (GHX) that decreases conventional construction costs, facilitates installation, promotes transfer, and reduces thermal resistance. In this study, new effective installation procedure was proposed. Three-dimensional, transient, conjugated finite volume simulations were conducted to compare the thermo-hydraulic performance of traditional single U-tube spiral GHXs with proposed GHX under two different flow rates. Moreover, parametric analysis study impact design, operating, geological parameters on GHX. Finally, surface response sensitivity analyses, as well optimization, carried out using ANSYS workbench. The comparison revealed yields higher effectiveness (E) transfer rate (Q) than single-U tubes by 40.8% 44.1%, respectively. addition, it has lower resistance 75.3% tube turbulent conditions. Furthermore, concluded radius most significant impact, followed velocity, diameter, pitch distance. recommended fluid velocity does not exceed 0.21 m/s, distance 0.0625 m, 0.2 grout conductivity 2.1 W/m.K.
